FigNewTon did great for the month of November. I had promised the state 88 hours, she delivered 116, which more than makes up for the lack from last month. If she keeps this up, she will finish in late April or early May. Her average school day is 5.5 hours. Some days she works 8.5 hours and some days she doesn't do school at all. She is definitely learning to take advantage of the benefits that come from getting her work done on time and the flexibility of setting her own schedule.
Butterfly is still struggling to get her hours in. This is entirely because of her brain injury; however there are many facets which came into play this month. In addition to needing unusual amounts of sleep, she also has impulse control and judgment issues that stem from the injury. We are working on this as well as teaching her academics. As of the 11th, she remembered through the present. This required me to reconfigure her curriculum once again. She is now academically functioning on the same level as her sister. Both are in grade 8. This makes lesson planning a bit easier for now. Emotionally, she still reacts like an 8 year old which has to be considered when grading social studies assignments and some language arts. All in all, her progress is encouraging.
