Today is Teddy Bear Day. It is the one hundredth anniversary of the making of the teddy bear. The first teddy bears were called Teddy's Bear, after President Theodore Roosevelt. They were made because Teddy Roosevelt refused to shoot a bear tied to a tree, sparing its life. The newspaper found out about this and made a cartoon about it. The next day there were Teddy's Bear's in toy store windows. We celebrated Teddy Bear day by buying a teddy bear for FigNewTon as one of her birthday presents, since her birthday fell on Teddy Bear Day this year.HAPPY TEDDY BEAR DAY!
