From the Earth to the Moon by Jules Verne

From the Earth to the Moon was written by Jules Verne in 1865.  It follows the story of the Gun Club and the projectile it sends to the moon.  The projectile does not turn out as anyone expected.

The story begins a few years after the Civil War.  The members of the Gun Club are bored and wishing for some action, even if it means a war beginning.  The leader of the Gun Club, Impey Barbicane, presents the idea of sending a projectile to land on the moon.  As everyone heartily agrees to the idea, the next few meetings are spent figuring the costs and supplies of this venture, from the metal to be used for the projectile to the location of the cannon and telescope for observing the projectile once it is in space.

Everyone thinks the projectile is a fabulous idea.  Everyone, that is, except Captain Nicholl, Barbicane's chief adversary.  During the war, Barbicane's shots frequently tore right through Nicholl's plates of armor.  Captain Nicholl places five separate bets based on the failure of the project.  He is infuriated further when Michel Ardan offers to ride the projectile to the moon provided there are modifications made to it.

Just a few days before the projectile is to be launched, Captain Nicholl challenges Barbicane to a duel in the forest at dawn the next day.  the end result of the duel is that Barbicane and Nicholl become friends and decide to ride in the projectile with Michel Ardan.

The projectile is ready, the canon is cast, the passengers have entered the rocket.  The next step is to very carefully lower the projectile into the cannon that is ready to be fired.  And now the rocket is off!  People watch and wait anxiously to know if the Gun Club's idea is going to work.  When the projectile begins orbiting the moon, everyone except one of Barbicane's closest friends gives them up for lost.

The Quilter's Daughter

The Quilter's Daughter is a story about a young Amish woman engaged to be married. When she loses her fiancée in an accident, she blames herself for not being there. With some help from friends, she gets over those feelings and moves on with her life. This is a really good book. I would encourage you to read it.  

Doomwyte

Doomwyte isthe story of Redwallers trying to rid their land of vermin birds and reptiles.  It also tells of the search for the Doomwyte Eyes.  This is a really good book.  

High Rhulain

High Rhulain is a story about a young ottermaid who leaves her home and family to rescue a group of otters on a faraway island.  having been successful, the otters crown hr as their queen.  As with may of Brian Jacues' books, this is an epic tale.  

Evil Star

Evil Star by Anthony Horowitz

Evil Star is the 2nd book in the Gatekeepers series.  In this book, Matt goes to peru to prevent another gate from opening.  While there, he meets Pedro, another one of the five children meant to save the world.  They must together stop the gate from opening.

Marlfox - By Brian Jacues

Marlfox is a story about a band of foxes who try to steal a tapestry from Redwall.  even though they suceed, a few brave young ones set out to reclaim the tapestry.  In the process, they free many creatures that had been slaves for a long time.  

Raven's Gate

Raven's Gate by Anthony Horowitz

Raven's Gate is the 1st book in the Gatekeepers series.   In this book, Matthew Freeman learns of his powers and must find a way to stop one of the five gates from opening and the Old Ones returning.

Snakehead

Snakehead is the 7th and I believe final book in the Alex Rider series.  In this book, Scorpia is back and more dangerous than ever.  Alex Rider must find a way to defeat scorpia yet again

The Long Patrol - By Brian Jacues

The Long Patrol is a wonerful story about a young harewho wishes to join the Long Patrol, a fabled army housed inthe fortress of Salamasndstron.  It tells of his adventures.  It is one of my favorites in this series.

Ark Angel is the 6th book in the Alex Rider series.  This book is filled with many twists and turns as Alex Rider prevents Mr. Drevin from blowing up Washingtons pentagon building with his Space Hotel called Ark Angel.  Alex Rider once again succedes in saving the world.

Mossflower is the prequel to Redwall. In this book, a group of woodland creatures try to free their homeland of an evil wildcat. In the end, good prevails and all is peaceful once more.

The Pearls of Lutra - By Brian Jacques

The Pearls of Lutra is another tale of Redwall. In this book, most of Redwall's warriors go on a search to find and save their authority figure. Those who stay at home conduct a search for the famed "Tears of the Oceans".

In this book, Moon starts investigating a seemingly harmless investigation, and pretty soon, he's the target. Moon hooks up with Sharkly, (the notorious bad guys) and together the unlikely pair solve the case.

Airman

This book is about a boy who is interested in flying and trying to create an airplane. While he is working on this his mentor (the king) and his teacher are killed. He is captured and while in prison works on his aeroplane design. The only way out is to fly. He must find the courage to trust in nhis designs and escape.

The Wish List

The Wish List is by Eoin Colfer
The Wish List is about a girl who has made a lot of wrong decisions. When she dies, her bad and good marks are completely even. She must return to earth and right her wrongs in order to get into heaven. The devil wants her soul and sends a soulman to mess her up and get her into hell. Will she be able to complete the tasks and go to heaven or not?
